Elementary School Gifted Education Services

Teachers who are specialists in gifted education provide a rich array of services throughout students' scholastic experiences, ultimately seeking to personalize learning for each student. Services available at the elementary grade levels include the following:
  • pullout instruction to accelerate learning in Math & Science determined by student interests
  • instruction incorporating student interests in social studies & language arts
  • Math Curriculum acceleration Alternatives
  • Differentiated Assignments in core subject areas for Regular Education Classroom 
  • Transition Planning Experiences
  • Individualized Education Program (IEP) Goals

In addition to these specific services, students identified as gifted also benefit from the work that the Gifted Education Specialists do on the students' behalf within the schools. 

Gifted Education Specialists consult with general education teachers in order to meet the intellectual needs of gifted students within the general education setting. These services include curriculum planning assistance, differentiation planning assistance, consultation about the individual needs of specific students including the social and emotional needs of gifted students and the preparation of independent study opportunities.

These skills provide the foundation upon which all the activities and experiences are built, allowing gifted students to be intellectually challenged in unique, meaningful ways. 

Along with these scholarly skills, an infusion of social and emotional skills is embedded into the group instruction and individualized interaction with the Gifted Education Specialist.
